Conserving Native Breeds. Supporting Sustainable Futures.
Native Breed Solutions is a research organisation registered as a UK-based Community Interest Company focused on the conservation and practical use of native livestock breeds in modern agriculture. We work to demonstrate how these breeds contribute to sustainable food systems, environmental stewardship, and rural livelihoods. Our approach is grounded in science. We support and conduct research on the nutritional value, health outcomes, and environmental impacts of native breeds. We collaborate with farmers, researchers, and other partners to assess production systems, improve product quality, and strengthen the case for native genetics in commercial and small-scale farming.
We aim to improve understanding of how native breeds fit into regenerative grazing, low-input systems, and climate adaptation. We also support traceability and transparency in supply chains, promoting high-quality meat, milk, and fiber products linked to breed and origin.
Our work combines evidence-based research, practical fieldwork, and stakeholder engagement. Whether supporting a farmer trial, contributing to a policy discussion, or sharing data on breed performance, our goal is to keep native breeds relevant, productive, and valued.
We welcome collaboration with producers, academics, retailers, and anyone committed to improving food systems through better livestock, better land use, and better data.
